16-Oct-2013 -- Back in California for the second trip this year. This time I attended the ASA annual meeting (asa.org) in San Francisco to report on results from our team.
As usual during these professional trips I save a few days for tourism around the meeting area. But this time I haven’t much time left to devote to CP visits so I choose 3 points that were really easy to reach as they lie very close to a road. We successively visited N38 W122, N39 W121 and N38 W121.
N39 W121 is very easy to reach as it lies 600 meters west of highway 80 in the immediate vicinity of the Applegate exit. I was able to park my car 250m south of the point and hiked straight uphill through the manzanita bushes. On the point the line of sight is very short in every direction as it is overgrown by manzanita trees. I made no encounter during the approach though I heard a dog barking in the distance northeast of my progression.
