04-Sep-2016 -- This is the 6th out of seven reports reaching confluence points in western France. The story starts from 48°N 4°W and continues from 48°N 0°EW.
Actually, the city of Le Mans had been my goal for this trip. But since I had most of the day left for cycling and confluencing, I continued my trip. But the next convenient town to take a train to Paris was Orléans. And in order to reach it in time I had to hurry up a bit. Therefore, I got up at 5 AM being forced to prepare my own breakfast in my hotel room, because the buffet wouldn’t open before 8:30 AM. When I started cycling at 6 AM it was still dark for another hour. From Saint-Calais, I cycled via Mondoubleau and Choue to the confluence.
The nice feature of this confluence is that it is close to a long-distance hiking trail. After leaving the network of roads, I followed the trail, which had several gates that had to be opened and closed behind me. The trail also goes through this farm.
At a distance of 168 m, I left the path, parked my bicycle and walked towards the confluence point over a meadow with gazing cows. The confluence turned out to be on the neighbouring stubble field, which had recently been covered with natural fertiliser. Unfortunately this natural fertiliser was liquid manure and offered a tough smell. But I accepted this little suffering in order to get a zero reading. The creek La Grenne flows in 150 m distance to the confluence point.
After the confluence visit I continued cycling to the city of Orléans, reaching it at noon time.
