#1: NES panoramic view

(visited by Philippe Burtin and Antonella Burtin)

08-May-2018 -- During a short trip in Spain we had to drive from Madrid to Salamanca with a rented car. We choose the southern itinerary running west from Toledo to Plasencia that follows very closely the north 40th latitude line. This allowed us to visit 40N 4W, 40N 5W and 40N 6W in the same day.

40N 5W is located in a fenced field located on the west side of a livestock farm near the village of Velada. It is easy to reach using sand tracks. This is the first visit since 2010 and I think that the farm has been built after that visit as no previous visitor describes it. I didn't want to climb over the fence at the time of the visit to avoid tearing my clothes on the barb wire so I stayed at 58 meters from the point.

We had lunch in the city of Talavera de la Reina were you can find artifacts of the medieval fortifications surrounding the town. The city is also famous for the earthenware products and specially the deep blue and yellow colors the local artists have developped over the centuries.
