(visited by Thomas Barthel)

16-Jul-2018 --

During the summer holidays direction Pyrenees I had the chance to visit some confluence points.

After visiting the city Pamplona with its dominant topics bullfighting and Hemmingway, we passed the city Huesca and reached the area of the CP 42N 0 by taking the motorway A22. We took the exit 72 near Pozano and choose the road N-240 direction south east. Around 1 km later we switched to road A-1225, direction south. It was a very beautiful landscape we drove through. I like this dry, hilly a windy areas. Sometimes you can see some olive trees or old ruins on the way. Sporadic we saw stacked straw cubes - sometimes up to a height of about 4 m!

After passing the village Laperdiguera it was a distance of about 1.5 km to a drinking water canal, named Canal de Terreu. For 800 meters I had to follow the canal direction north. There I took the junction to the right, now on a dirt road. 1.9 km later I reached the closest point to the CP on a road. The GPS was shown 242 meters to go on a field, direction SSE. I parked on the way and started the investigation on the spot.

The field with the CP on it was thickset at the time and a ditch, overgrown with thorny brushwood, handicapped my access. I took a kind of way onto the neighboured field to reach a good place for cross the ditch. This first field was planted with sunflowers - in my view. I walked carefully in between the lines of the very small plants and reached a good place to cross the ditch after 220 m. Now I balanced over the vegetation cover and reached the other side of the ditch. There I found such a densely planted field that I had no chance to step on it. Maybe it was only clovers, but I wasn't sure. It were violet flourishing plants. So I took the pictures at a distance of 46 m, from ENE, of the confluence point 42°N 0°. It was very hot, windy, around 4 p.m. and nobody passed by, during my visit. This was the second visit of the zero meridian during this trip.

After taking the same way back, the journey continued direction Barcelona.
