12-Jul-2024 -- This is the 7^th out of 10 reports visiting confluence points during a 10-day bicycle trip from Rovaniemi to the Norwegian Sea and back. The story starts from 67°N 26°E and continues from 70°N 23°E.

After a heavy rainstorm the previous day, I reached the remote village Kautokeino, where this confluence is located. It is 2km south-west of the village center in a forest with tiny birch trees. But getting there is straightforward, because within 100 m is the International Sámi Film Institute. A gravel road of 1 km connects the Sámi-Culture Center with the rest of the world. You can park there conveniently and stroll through the forest – but don’t forget your mosquito repellent.

On this short hike, I found a lot of cultural items such as old trucks, garbage and equipment lying around. The ground had been made uneven from the machinery. The confluence itself however, remains untouched.

After the hike I had a big meal inside the grocery store. Sitting outside is hardly possible due to the mosquitoes. I had a 2-hour conversation with a German guy, who opted to live here. I rode for another 100 km and spent the night in a camping hut in the Finnish town of Enontekiö.
