09-Aug-2024 -- Driving from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho to Kennewick, Washington, I made a detour off I-90 at Ritzville to visit this Degree Confluence Point, last visited more than 8 years ago. Unlike the previous visitor, I didn’t start from the Escure Ranch Trailhead, about 2.8 miles East of the point. Instead, I parked at the corner of two gravel roads - Calloway Road and Zornes Road, at [46.98798,-118.00261], just 0.83 miles Southwest of the point.
After passing through the gate, I continued hiking along the doubletrack road, until it reached its closest point to the Degree Confluence Point - 0.63 miles away. I then walked through long grass to the point. Unlike the previous visitor, I didn’t see any wildlife during my hike - except for hundreds of small grasshoppers (valley grasshoppers, I think) that flew away as I walked through the grass. The area was strewn with volcanic rocks, and it reminded me a lot of [43,-114], near Lava Beds National Monument in Idaho.
Here is a remote-controlled aerial video of this confluence point.
