09-Aug-2025 -- After my unexpected adventure/delay yesterday visiting [37,-3] - just to the West, I was able to continue my trip, descending the Sierra Nevada, taking the motorway along the Mediterranean coast past Almeria. I then turned onto rural roads to approach this point from the West and North.
As I approached the point on a dirt road, I was hit with a sense of deja vu, as the arid (in Summer), rugged, desert-like terrain reminded me of desert regions in the U.S. Southwest (Arizona and Nevada). In fact, the area looked just like [37,-114], in Arizona.
I knew that the point lay in a private orchard, which i discovered was fenced off. I didn’t want to cross the fence to enter the orchard, but by climbing up the bank just beside the fence, I was able to get 1m (+/- GPS error of 2m) from the point. I flew my drone from just outside the fence; here is a remote-controlled aerial video of this confluence point.
