19-Mar-2001 -- The confluence point indicated here is about 15 miles southeast of Marathon, Texas. Access is from U.S. 385 at the gate shown here 6 miles south of Marathon, which leads to a dirt road. The gate uses a latch, not a lock, so presumably based on this and the sign wording it is okay to travel on and leads to several different properties. I chose not to investigate further, though, since the confluence itself is A) about 3 miles from the nearest dirt road; B) likely on private ranchland; C) is on a steep mountain slope; D) climbing gear would probably be required; and E) I was on vacation.
