#1: Looking northeast up Dry Wash from DWTI70 Rd.

(visited by Larry Mays)

23-May-2001 -- The point is about six miles northeast of Dry Wash to Interstate 70 Road eight miles east of Moore, UT, in the broken canyon-lands of Dry Wash. This area between the Coal Cliffs on the west and the San Rafael Swell to the east is classic desert with bare rock and sand, but the few plants were in full bloom because of rains the previous week. The trail I followed from the county road became so deeply rutted and isolated that I gave up after two miles. All of the wildflower pictures except the beard-tongue were taken at the place where I turned back. Lookout Point is about seven miles SSE of the confluence point, and Eagle Canyon is near the intersection of DWTI70 Road and I-70.
