11-Aug-2001 -- My first attempt at a visit, and it was successful! It's a pretty easy one, though, just 4.5 km from the road, but pretty rough 1000 year old lava to walk through, with ravines and other obstacles. It only took about 1 hr to get to the point, the land there is fairly flat and I was alone, so I could keep my own speed. Not much to see, only an ugly aluminium factory to the north, and low mountains to the south and east. Yet a good trip. I found a steel bar from an old fence which I stuck in the ground at the spot. I think I try 64°N 21°W next. I understand that I could have to climb a bit.
