  67°N 25°E (visit #1) (secondary)

#1: 360 deg view of the target

(visited by matti rahkala and Antti Valmari)

17-Jun-2002 -- 67N 25E (secondary) We visited this point on our way back from 67N 24E to Rovaniemi. 67N 25E is located 60 km from Rovaniemi to north-north-west, and it is easy to reach.

One can get within some 300m by car along a long forest road. The terrain is easy to walk, although too wet for jogging shoes. (Not as wet as around 67N 24E, though.)

On our way there, about 5 km before the target, a female reindeer with her fawn was standing on the road (Figure 2).

Reindeer come often to the road in Northern Finland in this time of the year. We had to slow down and almost stop several times during our 300 km round-trip to avoid crashing with them.

Figure 1 shows a 360 degrees panorama of the target. The sun shines from south-west. Young pines grow in the swampy place. Drier terrain is not far off.

Figure 3. Comparing the readings of our navigators.

Figure 4. Matti (in the picture) got a mobile phone call while we were in the target, and Antti when we were walking back to the car. Audibility was perfect.
