After overnighting at the quiver tree forest near Keetmanshoop and visiting the Giants Playground, we proceeded to Aus and Lüderitz, planning to overnight at Klein Aus.

The confluence at 27S 18E lies 50 km SW from Keetmanshoop in the Naute Game Park at the Naute dam. However, the gate to the park was locked. The guards at the dam knew nothing, and, although a telephone number was given at the gate, there was no cell phone reception in the area. A public telephone at a palm plantation along the way was card operated and we had none. We could see a building (game ranger house?) across the dam and a track leading towards the confluence area, but we eventually had to give it up as an attempt and proceed to 27S 17E.
