01-Jul-2003 -- This would be the second confluence of the day and the seventh successful of nine attempted during the evolution of this trip. It was almost too easy. Compared to some of the others I have attempted (36N-118W, 36N-117W, or 42N-124W) this was a piece of cake.
Coming south from Porterville, just after a sweeping left turn, turn right onto Tulare County Road 256, drive about
100 meters and stop. You will be at 36N-119W. I found it to be just off the west side of the road. A little closer to the orange trees may have allowed my GPS receivers to stabilize with all zeros at that particular moment
in time based on the instantaneous GPS constellation geometry. Off by .001 was going to have to be acceptable. We were anxious to get home, since we had just taken a 3 hour detour from the previous confluence visit at 37N-119W and were ready to sleep at home tonight. I snapped the following pictures and began the drive home.
Photo 1 looks north towards the intersection with Road 252. Photo 2 shows the gps reading at this intersection.
Photo 3 looks east towards the Sierras.
A very fun vacation with seven successful confluence visits on our way back. Where will our next trip take us...?
