Malheureusement, notre périple a bien mal commencé.

08-Oct-2003 -- Wednesday, September 24th, 2003, it’s the big day. Our group of three, Germain Savard, Edith Cadieux and Francois Gionest are ready to reach by any means the confluence. Our expedition began at about 5:30 pm after a day of work in the sector of the Lac Libéral in the Northern part of Lac-St-Jean. The task was very difficult given the late hour of our departure. It is necessary to mention that the darkness at this time of the year, occurs around 7:30 pm with a point of departure approximately 35 km from the point of confluence in a straight line, you can figure in which condition we navigated. We thus left with Francois to the steering wheel, Germain in the GPS and maps as well as Edith who verified the presence of crossing roads.

Unfortunately, our trip began very badly. By wanting to spare time, we took a small road which should be a shortcut. This road made us loose about 30 invaluable minutes because it was cut by a brook. We turned back and tried to use a bigger road, but longer. Needless to say that our fighting spirit was at lowest, given the tight schedule. With a little luck we still managed to drive very close to the point (5 km), as the darkness grew. We made a final attempt by taking a small road which was considered as difficult but closer. We finally parked the vehicle about 100 meters from the sought point. It was then 7:30 pm and it was almost dark. Given the late conditions, we were not in mesure to take good pictures of the site.

However, it wasn’t our last word. Two weeks later (Wednesday October 8th), Marie - Hélène Bouchard and I ( Francois Gionest) returned on the site after our working day to take pictures and immortalize our quest. The sector is located in cutting forest.

Coordinator's Note: The photos of the confluence are too dark, so this visit has been classified as incomplete.
