12-Oct-2003 -- I attempted this confluence point about July 6th of 2003, and been aware of this particular site for about two years. I was able to drive within 4 miles, and walk to within 2 miles in July - but the temperature before noon was already 108° I left 6 liters of water next to the 4 wheeler / cattle trail. I returned 11 October to much cooler weather! The hike started at 6 in the evening and reached 382 feet from the confluence at 2 AM. The point is on top of a 200 foot cliff as approched from the north. I spent the night as planned and, in the morning, went west up the base of Cummings Mesa and then turned back, walking down the ridge top. The confluence is thankfully a few hundred feet (or less) back / south from the cliff edge. I built a small rock cairn and took three rolls of film over an hour. The views east to Navajo Mountain are stupendous from this area. I have submitted my film for development / disc / web info to help place those photos on this site. There is a lot more to getting to this confluence than finding a way past Aztec Creek! I would suggest this point requires basic canyoneering, moderately hard hiking, and advanced orienteering / route finding. I will post photos soon, and perhaps better detail such as some useful waypoints (where to park, canyon entry, etc.). In the meantime, I hope to get back to hike the west Navajo Mountain loop trail down to Rainbow Bridge - which I suspect is a much safer path than any possible route to this difficult, dangerous, and gorgeous confluence point.
