19-Oct-2003 -- Coming from 34S 63S near La Cesira we continued to to zigzag
over varios provincial roads, passing the small town of Arias, where we purchased bread, ham and cheese for our lunch on the
road in a small settlement called Cavanagh.
Finally we reached Corral de Bustos, where we turned
left into a connection road in order to reach the provincial road nr. 6 (in
direction Rosario), bringing us to Los Surgentes, the closest settlement to
te confluence.
A dirt road was leading us up to about 200 metres to the point, being
located in a grain field.
We could observe during the last days that the more Northern we come, the
warmer the climate gets and the higher has grown the wheat, accordingly.
We attach the views to all cardinal directions, North,
East, South and West.
Werner is a flower enthusiast, and almost everywhere he finds some to make beautiful
pictures of.
After this visit we continued on road nr. 6 until the town of Cruz Alta,
where we took a nice hotel.
A word about hotels and lodging in Argentina:
After one week in various accomodations we can say that all rooms, even in
the most simple and economical hotels, are clean and the personnel is
everywhere extremely friendly. But we seem not to match with the usual
pattern of a traveller in this country.
The item most importance is paid to everywhere, seems to be the TV-set.
Wherever you check in, you get handed over the remote control, which is kept
scrupulously under key and custody on the reception desk. Argentine
television, however, does not offer anything of interest to a European
traveller. They seem to transmit nothing else than short music or sports
clips and endless commercials around the clock.
So we usually refuse the remote control at the check in, and this causes
everywhere an astonishment to the extreme. How one can survive a night
without watching TV?
Well, this is the way to survive a night without TV: Writing confluence
reports in the dull illumination of an Argentine
hotel room ...
But TV does have its advantages, too: Every TV set requires an electric
socket - and this can be comfortably used to plug in the laptop computer.
