06-Jul-2004 -- Sylvia already nabbed the first and easiest CP in Xenti – so not to be outdone we took a different route to the northern part of the aimag from Ulaaanbaatar so that we could take in a different CP.

We were visiting our project farms to look at progress on wheat seed production.

Mongolia has few roads – only “routes”. There are many options to get from point A to point B especially when A and B are 250 km apart and there are lots of hills around.

Xenti was looking splendidly green after recent heavy rain. The rain has been a little heavier and earlier than normal and the crop farmers should be happy (farmers never admit to being happy – only tell of how hail and frost could destroy all the hard work so far!). I digress.

On Tuesday morning we drove to the point with little difficulty. We took the photos including the team and then went on to picnic by a beautiful cold stream. I have no photos of getting thoroughly stuck in the mud 20 metres later and spending 45 minutes digging and jacking ourselves out! All part of the fun.
