13-Jul-2004 -- The 1:100000 map "Saltfjellkartet" may be helpful for potential visitors. The grid point 67/15 is located near the cabin "Tverrbrennstua". One has 30 min. to walk from the nearby parking place on the road to Storjord to reach the cabin. (Visitors must have a key for DNT-cabins.)

In the evening of July 13th, a rainy day, we visited Tverrbrennstua to spend the night there. Still we wanted to have a walk to a nearby "summit" St. Olav (710 m). Ca. 100-200 m to the east of the cabin we discovered a path to the lake "Store Gåsvatnet". This path seemed to go directly to the confluence point. The last 100 m, however, we had to leave the path to the north to approach N67/E15. 45 min. later we were back in Tverrbrennstua, not only an excellent place for the night but also a good starting point for hiking in the Saltfjellet.

Due to the late evening and the weather the photos are of reduced value. Oscillations on the GPS-display were caused by the blocking of the satellite signals by peak St. Olav.
