29-Oct-2002 -- This was the sixth and final confluence I visited on my bicycle trip around Australia. I discovered on my map that this confluence was nearby. After a midday nap in a culvert I pushed on into the afternoon. Around 5pm I crossed the 120°E parallel and I parked the bike. I was 99% sure this confluence had been done already, but calling mom in the USA and have her look up the confluence wasn't an option . (I did this in South Australia a couple times). It really didn't matter since this confluence is just off the highway. As I closed in on the confluence area, I thought to myself, "hmm, a little to the right, it should be right over there....right over there about where that stake is driven into the ground". After a couple seconds it occurred to me that it wasn't a grand cosmic thing that a metal stake just happened to be in the ground at random...it had been the work of a previous confluence visitor. I took the pictures and soon was off on my bike to the Pardoo Roadhouse for a big huge burger. I ended up riding further that night, nearly putting in 160km...which is a lot of an overloaded touring bike. I never submitted this confluence since it had been done before.
I am writing this about two years after this confluence visit. A visitor (hello Adam from St. Albans, England!) to my travel website emailed me and noted that I'd forgotten to submit this sixth confluence to the site. I am back in Portland, working and dealing with the ups and downs of daily life, and this whole confluence visit seems like a bit of a blur now.
More roads to travel, more confluences to visit!
