19-Jul-2007 -- On the fourth day of our holiday in Bellinzona, Switserland, we decided to try to reach the CP 46n, 9e. After we read the adventures of other people on this website, we decided to rent a boat at Hotel Moosmann, as we read in this story; because the CP is in the middle of a lake.
We started at Lugano, a big city near the lake. After one hour walking through a beautiful neighborhood we reached the city of Gandria. It’s a very small city on a hill near the Leak of Lugano. We looked around and found hotel Moosmann. But what a disaster! They don’t rent boats!
What now? We decided to walk back to Lugano. There were a lot of opportunities to rent a boat, but the distance to the CP is a lot bigger (compared to Gandria). We walked back the same way as we came and rent a small motorboat at the first opportunity.
The weather was hot, approximately 35 degrees, and we are on an open boat on the lake...After about 20 minutes we reached the CP. It takes about 10 minutes to get the CP (nearly) exactly. Our attempt to get all the “zero’s” (46.00000; 9.00000) failed, it was impossible because we had no anchor or something to hold the boat on the right position.
After we took the pictures of the gps coordinates, the neighborhood and ourselves, we toured to the Italian border and cruised around the boulevard of Lugano. 1,5 our later we brought back the boat and went back to Bellizona. Our mission was completed!
