(visited by Heinz-Werner Goetz)

23-Jun-2004 -- First I had considered visiting this confluence by helicopter (famous Captain Peter and others had already done so (you don’t believe me? see 46°N 7°E!)), on inline skates or something like that (not available), perhaps riding on a unicorn or so, or to bag all Bavarian confluences on midnight sharply, preferably together with a choral society (at least 30 singers) singing “It’s a long way to Tipperary” on the CP (live recording) or to organize anything else that might provide for a very special character of the visit, because, as you know, not only all Bavarian, but also all German, moreover, all European confluence points on land have already been visited a couple of times, and, you know: “Everywhere I hear the sound of marching feet, boy, ‘cause summer’s here and the time is right…“, but then I thought it’s strange enough to do it in an average way (for example: drive by car, walk for a while), as from my experience so far I can say that “normal” people do mostly react in a somehow bewildered way when you (try to) tell them about (the sense of) confluence hunts, at least in my circle of friends. So I said to myself: “But what can a poor boy do except to…” and started off just like I had done a couple of times before.

On my way to the point I passed the beautiful Benedictine abbey of Neresheim and then followed the route of the Romantische Straße that has its origin in the Alps, touches picturesque Rothenburg ob der Tauber and leads to Würzburg.

The confluence is located about 20 km SE of Schweinfurt in a grain field along the Bundesstrasse 26a a few kilometres NE of the town of Arnstein and is labelled by a monument about 200 meters from the accurate location. Fortunately I could use the track of my forerunner to get to the CP and thus did not have to trample down more of the crop than necessary.

By the way: this is a Motocross-CP! Less than 100 meters east from the confluence there is a motocross training circuit where a lonesome rider drew his circles. One confluence visit after another! Almost every minute a new one! Obviously this perseverant stranger was establishing a new formerly unknown kind of confluence visiting record! Howdy, stranger! Hats off!!!
