05-Feb-2006 -- From the pictures of the previous visitors, one can imagine a nice and easy walk to the confluence. Yes, but only during summer.

Our visit was executed in the middle of winter. That was perhaps not a good idea considering how strong (cold) was this winter. That day the temperature was -8 degrees Celcius. OK, low temperature is something that you can solve with proper clothing. But what about wind (30Km/hr) and 0.5 to 1.0 mts. snow? These are not the ideal weather conditions for a couple of Venezuelans. In fact, in our home city (Maracaibo) the average temperature is 30+ degrees C all year long.

Anyway, the hike was very good. We even found some rest stations along the track (of course covered by snow, see picture). Our main problem was during two sections (+/- 500 mts each) with 0.5-1.0 mts. of snow (see pictures). Just making a simple step was already a challenge. We even consider suspending the visit, but we didn’t since we were highly motivated from the beginning.

Under this conditions it took us 2 hrs walking/hiking to reach the confluence and 2hrs coming back.

Even though we have a difficult weather, we have lot of fun walking through the snow and enjoying the beautiful view while hiking these mountains.

We highly recommend you this confluence.

We have added one additional picture from the Neusiedlersee, which is a beautiful lake (not in the area of the confluence) that we visited the weekend before and we also recommend.
