27-Mar-2007 -- My visit:
24-Mar-2007 -- Before starting to holiday, I picked out some geocaches to find. One was (GC9F87), named after the famous Cologne perfume 4711 and located an N47 E11. It looked rather near to the main street in a valley in the alps, so I decided to give it a try.
27-Mar-2007 -- I tried to go to the coordinates. First, I drove up and down the street, seeking for a good way to get nearer. Finally, I found a road leading upwards, marked with a sign indicating to take snow chains with you.
The road went up, and after a small village, started to get snowy. I didn't want to force my fortune and go further, but there was little space to turn the car, neither. Finally, I managed to turn on the grass and went back to the next village.
Just 800m to the cache, I thought. Not knowing that there were several 100m of altitude to conquer.
In the next small village on the snowy road, I found a little pathway leading upwards in the direction of the cache. Soon, the snow got deeper and formed serpentines. Several times, I thought I was going to get to the position, there was an extra bend leading me further away.
Advancing fast, I arrived at N47 E11 quite exhausted. The snow was lighter there, you could see the grass, some rural huts and a beautiful panorama over the valley.
Apart from the confluence point, the cache had to be found. Just before giving up and going down again, I happened to find it by reading the hint carefully. The snow didn't make it easier...
