Hans-Henning and Frauke Mercker's farm Groot Elim is situated 10 kilometers northwest from Drimiopsis, a small village in the Omaheke region of eastern Namibia. Jens, Hans-Henning and Frauke's son, was well aware of the Confluence on the farm but not aware of the Degree Confluence Project and the website. The Mercker family was quite intrigued with the confluence concept and we set off in Jens's trusted old Landy to locate the Confluence. Jens drove us through thick bush and dry grass to within 50 meters from the Confluence. With the photo session at the confluence point completed, we drove back to the farm house for morning coffee and biscuits with Hans-Henning and the rest of the Mercker family. Continued at 23S 19E. |
