05-Jan-2008 -- En la ruta a recorrer para nuestro viaje a la Gran Sabana, vimos que habían 4 confluencias de la cuales planificamos la cacería de al menos 3 de ellas, la primera a visitar en nuestro plan era la N8 W 62, ubicada a 10 KM de la población del Palmar. El día 4 de enero de 2008 salimos de Barquisimeto a las 7.00 a.m., Tavel en su LuvDmax con su esposa Yrene y sus hijos Tavel Alejandro y Gabriela, Eva y yo Rosalda, en nuestro Land Cruiser, rumbo al sureste de Venezuela con destino al Parque Nacional Canaima, sector oriental, conocido como Gran Sabana. Tomamos la vía de los llanos, pasando por los estados Portuguesa, Cojedes, Guarico y Anzoátegui para llegar a Puerto Ordaz, en el estado Bolivar, a las 8.00 p.m. Pernoctamos en esta ciudad y partimos al día siguiente a las 9.00 a.m. tomando la carretera troncal 10 que atraviesa este estado y el parque y conduce directamente al sur, a la frontera con Brasil.

En la ruta pasamos por la población de Upata y a 12 Km., tomamos un desvió hacia el este, que conduce a la población del Palmar, después de recorrer unos 32 Km., encontramos la entrada del hato Costa Rica, donde nos esperaba el señor Cesar Vásquez, administrador del hato propiedad del Sr. Jean Brum. Gracias a nuestro amigo Héctor Rodríguez, quien lo contacto previamente por teléfono para solicitar el permiso, también lo llamamos para confirmar la hora de llegada al hato. Llegamos al portón a las 10 a.m., el cual lo habían dejado sin candado para facilitar nuestro acceso, entramos y llegamos hasta la casa donde Cesar nos esperaba. Nos recibió muy amablemente y nos envió con Reinaldo y Nicolás, trabajadores de la hacienda, para que nos guiaran a través de los cortijos hasta llegar al PC el cual se encontraba a unos 1000 mt al sur de la casa. Bordeamos una laguna, y entramos a uno de los potreros y allí, dentro del vehiculo logramos el objetivo a las 11.13 am. El punto está a una altitud de 334 msnm.

Tomamos las fotos de rigor y regresamos a la casa donde nos hidratamos y nos despedimos de nuestros guías y amigo Cesar. Esta zona es muy húmeda y se trabaja intensivamente la ganadería para engorde y producción de leche y quesos. Salimos del hato y en vez de regresar por donde entramos, lo hicimos en dirección este hacia la población del Palmar, pasamos el poblado y continuamos por una carretera de condiciones regulares hasta llegar a Villa Lola, donde empalmamos con la troncal 10 nuevamente y así continuar nuestro viaje rumbo a la Gran Sabana donde nos esperaba el PC N5 W61, .

05-Jan-2008 -- In the route to travel for our trip to the Gran Sabana saw that there are 4 confluences, so we planed to hunt at least 3 of them, the first one to visit in our plan was the N8 W 62, located to 10 KM of El Palmar town . On January 4 / 2008 leave Barquisimeto at 7:00 a.m. Tavel in his LuvDmax with his wife Yrene and their kids Tavel Alejandro and Gabriela; Eva and me (Rosalda), in our Land Cruiser, heading for the southeast of Venezuela going to the National Park Canaima, eastern sector, well-known as Gran Sabana. We passed by the plains route, going by the Portuguesa state, Cojedes state, Guarico state and Anzoátegui state to arrive to Puerto Ordaz, in the Bolívar state, at 8.00 p.m. We spent the night in this city and we leave following day at 9.00 a.m. taking the highway troncal 10 that it crosses this state and the park and drives directly to the south, to the border with Brazil.

In the route we passed by Upata town and at 12 Km. from there, we took a secondary road toward the east that drives to El Palmar town. After traveling about 32 Kms., we find the entrance of the Costa Rica ranch, where Cesar Vasquez waited for us, who is the men in charge of the ranch property of the Mr. Jean Brum. Thanks to our friend Héctor Rodríguez who contacted him previously to request the permission and we also called him to confirm our arrival time. We arrived at 10:00 a.m. at the ranch gate, that they had left it without padlock to facilitate our access. We enter and arrived to the house where Cesar was waited for us. He received us very kindly and order to Reinaldo and Nicolás, farm workers, to be our guide through the farms until arriving to the CP that was to about 1000 mt to the south of the house. We went around a lagoon, and we enter to pasture land lot and at 11:13 we found CP inside our vehicle with all the zeros. The point it is located al an altitude of 334 msnm.

We took the pictures and returned to the house where we hydrated ourselves and say goodbye to our guides and friend Cesar. This area is very wet and cattle’s raising it is conducted intensively for milk and cheeses production. We leave the ranch and instead of returning where we enter, we made head toward of El Palmar town. We passed the town and we continue on a road of regular conditions until arriving to Villa Lola, where we connect again with the highway troncal 10 and continue our trip heading to the Gran Sabana where the CP N5 W61, was waiting for us.
