16-Nov-2003 -- Con poca esperanza del éxito comencé esta alternativa. En ninguno de los mapas disponibles para mí existia una vía de acceso que podía ser encontrada. Me informaron que un poco después la ciudad de UPATA hay un camino de una pista de desegüe hacia el este, en la dirección del punto buscado con dirección a la ciudad del PALMAR.

La primera aproximación la termine delante de una puerta bloqueada de una finca, a 2,43 kilómetros (Pic4). Continué conduciendo para encontrar un acceso mejor que el del EL PALMAR, del este o sureste respectivamente. Después de una ida muy interesante a esta otra alternativa termine delante de una piscina grande de agua a 3,53 kilómetros de lejos al (Pic5).

Volví tan al norte del área del punto, cerca de la puerta bloqueada de la finca. La información obtenida de la gente local indicó que el punto estaría en el área de la FINCA COSTA RICA y debe estar cerca del cortijo. Desdichadamente no pude tener la llave para abrir la puerta “ver (Pic4)”, como nadie pasaba me decidí a caminar con el calor de la tarde al punto.

A lo largo de la caminata observe vacas y caballos pastando, me encontré un camino de grava que me condujo directamente hacia el sur-sudoeste, al cortijo y hacia el punto que tanto buscaba. En la granja los establos tenían perros que ladraban violentamente, me persigueron y obstaculizaron que me acercara al cortijo. Al pasar un charco que dejaron las orugas de los tractores pude seguir al CP, este se encontrada dentro de un pasto para el ganado, cercado y detrás de una arboleda (Pic6 - SO).

La condición de la cerca no es la mejor y era fácil saltar por encima. En el medio de los sacos de fertilizante podría localizar el CP (Pic7). El área es maravillosa, entremezclado con palmas y los charcos de agua.

En mi regreso encontré algunos LLANEROS (Pic9) de la finca, pero era demasiado tarde y lejos para ir hasta la casa de los llaneros que me invitaron muy cordialmente (Pic8). Me queda la satisfacción de haber encontrado otro punto en Venezuela luego de haber sudado tanto.

With little hope for success I began this attempt. Into none of the maps available to me, an access road could be found. After all I was surprised stated that shortly after the town of UPATA there is a tarmac road towards the east, in direction to the CP, to village of EL PALMAR.

The first approximation ended in front of a locked farm gate – 2.43 km far away (Pic4). I continued driving to find a better access from the village EL PALMAR, from the east or southeast respectively. After an interesting drive from the east this attempt ended in front of a large water pool - 3.53 km away (Pic5).

So I returned to the area north of the CP, close to the locked farm gate. The information obtained from local people indicated that the CP would be on the area of the FINCA COSTA RICA and should be close to the farmhouse. Unfortunately nobody could be found having a key for the gate as well as nobody passed it (Pic4). Therefore a walk in the afternoon heat was obvious.

Along cattle and horse pastures a gravel road led directly toward south-southwest, to the farmhouse and to the CP. At the farm stables wildly barking dogs hampered me to approach the farmhouse. Passing a sea-like pond on tractor tracks the CP was found within a cattle pasture, fenced and behind a grove (Pic6 - SW).

The condition of the fence is not the best one and it was easy to jump over. In the midst of in-grown fertilizer bags I could locate the CP (Pic7). The area is beautifully, interspersed with palms and ponds.

On the way back I met some LLANEROS (Pic9) from the farm, but I was already too far, in order to pay visit to the farmhouse (Pic8).

Mit wenig Hoffnung auf Erfolg begann ich diesen Versuch. In keine der mir vorliegenden Landkarten, war eine Strasse in die unmittelbare Nähe dieses CP’s eingezeichnet. Mit Überraschung stellte ich fest, dass kurz nach UPATA eine Teerstrasse in Richtung Osten zum Ort „EL PALMAR“ führte.

Die erste Annäherung endete vor einem versperrten Farmgatter – 2,43 km entfernt (Pic4). Ich setzte die Fahrt fort, bis zum Ort „EL PALMAR“ um einen Zugang von Osten oder Südosten zu finden. Ein Versuch von Osten endete nach einer interessanten Fahrt vor einer großen Wasserlache (Pic5) – 3,53 km.

So kehrte in das Gebiet der Farmzufahrt zurück und erkundigte mich um andere Zugangsmöglichkeiten. Die Auskünfte ergaben, dass der CP auf dem Gebiet der FINCA „COSTA RICA“ liegen würde und sogar in der Nähe des Farmhauses. Leider konnte mir niemand einen Schlüssel für das Tor besorgen (Pic4). Also stand mir eine Wanderung in der Nachmittagshitze bevor.

Entlang Rinder- und Pferdeweiden führte die Schotterstrasse direkt in Richtung Südsüdwest, zum Farmhaus und zum CP. An den Stallungen der Farm, den wild kläffenden Hunden und einem seeartigen Teich vorbei führte der Zugang über einen Feldweg zu einer Viehweide, eingezäunt und mit einem Hain von der Farm abgegrenzt (Pic6 - SW).

Der Zustand des Zaunes ist nicht der Beste und war leicht zu überwinden. Inmitten von eingewachsenen Düngersäcken konnte ich den CP orten (Pic7). Die Gegend ist wunderschön, mit Palmen und Teichen durchsetzt.

Am Rückweg traf ich einige Llaneros (Pic9) der Farm, aber ich war bereits zu weit entfernt, um dem Farmhaus (Pic8) noch einen Besuch abstatten zu können.
