07-Jul-2009 -- This is the 73rd of a series of 83 confluence visits during our voyage from Nigeria to Europe and back to Nigeria around the entire African continent. It all started on 28 January 2008 at 11N 5E.
Story continues from 26S 17E.
This morning, two hours before sunrise, we got up and drove from Sesriem to the Sossusvlei where we witnessed the sunrise over the red dunes. At lunchtime we were back at Sesriem and continued to drive to Solitaire.
12 kilometres before the village of Solitaire, the road bypasses the Confluence by 1.5 kilometres. Unfortunately, all the farm gates were locked. We parked our vehicle next to the road and walked the remaining distance to the Confluence.
