28-Mar-2011 -- I first visited this confluence more than 11 years ago, in December 1999 - before the end of 'selective availability'. While driving from Barstow to Laughlin, Nevada, I decided to make a short detour to revisit this confluence, to get 'all zeros', and to get better photos (because back in 1999 I used a cheap 'point-and-shoot' film camera).

Another difference from 1999 is that I now have a 4-wheel-drive vehicle, so I was able to drive close to the confluence point rather than ride a mountain bike. (Riding a mountain bike on sandy terrain like this is difficult.) Following Marshall Clow and Dave Kaplan's advice, I turned onto the dirt 'power line' road at [34.954972,-115.08475] and then onto a narrower dirt (really sand) road at [34.96725,-115.03083].

This is a typical southwestern U.S. desert confluence point, lying amid thinly spaced sagebrush (with occasional cactus).
