19-Jun-2011 -- Cheryl and I were on our annual pilgrimage to Milwaukee for the AACE (Academy for Advanced and Challenge Enthusiasts) annual national square dance event. Normally we leave immediately to get back to our home in DC for work the next day. This year, however, we had another event the following weekend in Atlanta and had all day Sunday to get to Moline, IL, for the next activity on our itinerary. Thus we had time and opportunity to visit both 43N89W and 43N90W.
As noted by previous visitors, the confluence at 43N89W is in a group of homes in the Alpine Village community at the west edge of Lake Ripley. I parked where Alpine Village Lane does a hard right turn toward Lake Ripley and walked the remaining 150 yards to the confluence (Photo #2 looking north back up Alpine Village Lane). I placed the confluence a few yards west (away from the lake) of the miniature lighthouse in the natural island at the end of the driveway of the large gray two story house near the lake shore (photo #1 looking east). The miniature lighthouse appears in most of the previous visitors pictures; the birdbath and troll figure with the yellow slicker appear to be new additions. Figure 3 shows the wooded undeveloped area to the west and figure 4 shows the view south further down the lake.
