01-Apr-2012 -- The weather was strange, almost spooky
Having visited Burgos with a fascinating cathedral, Bilbao with its Guggenheim Museum and the holiday resort Santander we headed southwards and found it convenient to look for N42W005.
The landscape was first rather mountainous, then falling down to more soft hills cultivated with grass or grains. In the northern part of our journey it was rather misty. We thought it might be pollution or possibly the cold sea air meeting the mountains. Later we saw on the TV news that it was forest fires east of Bilbao.
Having passed the mountains, the air cleared up and we saw dark clouds in the south indicating bad weather. Approaching the confluence point we had some lightning and it started to rain. As we arrived at a point a couple of hundred meters from the cp it stopped and I could walk through a field following the tracks of a tractor where nothing was growing. It was getting dark and it was difficult to get good photos.
To the NE of the cp we saw a big farm of solar panels near a couple of buildings. So they were probably self supplied with electricity.
