29-Oct-2006 -- After reading the accounts of other visitors to this point and studying the photographs, I thought I had a good idea of where to find it. I happened to be camping with friends in Ocotillo nearby, so I decided to swing over and see if I could bag this point.
I went down the dirt road as far as I dared, since it was very soft, then pulled off at a more-stable patch of ground. I hiked across a mile of flat ground, my foot occasionally falling through a small hole or tunnel, until I came to a vast field of boulders. It was slow and exhausting.
By the time I got to the base of the mountains and the mouth of the canyon I thought I needed to go into, the temp had gotten into the 90s, I was tired, and I had no food and only a half-bottle of water, so I decided not to try it. I took a picture with my cell phone to remember what it looked like, so I could come back to it again.
