13-Oct-2014 -- Eleven years after my first visit to this Confluence I happened again to visit Termoli.
First of all I checked in at the Hotel “Meridiano”, and I was surprised that they were obviously aware of their particular geographic location. At the entrance there is a poster with an explanation of Termoli’s geographical position.
At the Confluence itself also a lot has happened: At the 42nd Parallel, and about 100 metres West of the Confluence, the AGIT (Associazione Geometri Italiani Topografi / Association of Italian Topographical Geometers) has erected a monument, and exactly on the Confluence there is a mark with three sticks around.
To the North we see the historic quarter of Termoli, to the East there is the port, to the South there is the Sea and the beach, now well covered with vegetation compared with earlier visits. To the West, finally, we see the 42nd Parallel Monument and a part of modern Termoli.
Not only on the mainland, but also on the offlaying archipelago of the Tremiti Islands, they are fond of their position.
On the Island of San Domino at the main square a monument is erected, showing the directions of the compass and an alhidade (segment of a sextant) with their latitude.
