19-Sep-2015 -- This is the first visit in a sequence of 15 visits made while on a road trip with my son Michael.
The next is 50N 11E.
It was time again for the traditional yearly road trip with my son Michael. The plan this year was to drive from Salzburg to North Bavaria to visit some friends, then on to Amsterdam to visit some of Michael's friends, then over the channel to Blighty to visit family, then back into France, to Kaiserslautern (more family), and back to Salzburg.
Things would be different this year - instead of me hiring a car we
would be travelling in Michael's car, his first ever. We would do our best not to crash it. Additionally we would try to visit as many CPs as possible on our journey.
We left Salzburg at 9:45 on the Saturday and headed North to cross the border into Germany at the smaller border crossing at Laufen - the reason for this was that the main crossing at Walserberg has had major jams since
cars were being checked for Syrian and other refugees trying to get into Germany.
There were checks taking place at Laufen, but the wait was minimal and we were not stopped and searched, I guess because there was not much chance of stowing someone in the boot of a Mazda 2.
We had an otherwise uneventful trip and arrived at the CP at 12:45, taking a rough road for the last few kilometres. It was a short walk to the CP, the usual photos were taken and we were back at the car by 13:10.
Then we were off to 50N 11E.
