28-Dec-2015 -- The days off between Christmas and Changing the year gave opportunity to visit the confluence point 50N 13E.

By using the car navigation the way lead from the north of Bavaria, passing Cheb, along the autobahn D6, heading East. Later the way passes on smaller roads the city Bečov nad Teplou. From there it leads along bigger roads to Třebouň and, after changing to the right, heading to Nezichov, to the village Branisov.

The view to the huge tree in the middle of the village place is known from pictures of former CP visitors. A parking place was found in the West of the small village, near an information board. Here is the starting point of the walk. Equipped with the GPS and the mobile phone the hike begun, to conquer the last 820 m to the CP.

A path leads uphill, along some private properties until it reaches a pasture and its fence. Behind this fence is the forested range of hills in which the CP is located. Now the way becomes a forest track. Marks of intensive forestry were visible.

The confluence point 50N 13E was reached after a last steep way up of about 150 metres. The location falls away sharply and is marked by a thin wooden pile, which had lost its information sign. A tree trunk is located about 1 meter next to the broken CP sign. The GPS signal was not very stable caused by the trees and the slope. But after some minutes the picture of the GPS display with the exact coordinates was done.

Under best weather conditions and already at lunchtime this confluence visit was fulfilled! Next to the direct area of the CP is a plantation of small conifers. On the way through the village nobody was around. It was very quiet.

During the way back a side trip to Bečov gave opportunity for a typical Czech lunch with dumpling. Unfortunately the castle of Bečov was closed. This visit was very interesting because it gave a intensive insight into the village life at Czech Republic.
