(visited by Thomas Barthel)

08-Jul-2019 -- During our summer holidays in Canada, I took the chance to visit some confluence points. The story continues from 45°N 77°W visit #3.

I reached the swampy forested area with the CP on it, like the former visitors. After parking north of the CP, on Pinary Road, I started my way by foot. Unfortunately I chose the wrong way in and had to do nearly 400 m of bush hacking! In addition to this it was very swampy, many thorns around and a lot of insects (deer flies and mosquitoes)! Later I found the woodland path which leads to the so often mentioned abandoned hunting cabin. Nothing changed since 2018. On the path and in the shadows of the trees it was okay with the insects. But later, on a open area, it was horrible to be attacked by hundreds of flies! For this reason some pictures are not sharp or you find dark spots on it, as to see on the location picture. On a forking, 250 m north of the CP, I chose the wrong side. You have to go left there. Soon the way ends and I had to walk the last 100 m across the woodland. Many dead trees mark the very wet and swampy area of confluence point 45°N 76°W. You can see this on picture 7, again with a fly on it. So I hurried up to take all necessary pictures and rushed back. I reached Pinary Road at a distance of around 100 m east from my starting point, without bush hacking. On my way back I had the luck to see a big red deer, but the moment was too short for a picture.

Afterwards we continued our trip direction north east, to visit Ottawa, the capital of Canada.

The story continues at 46°N 74°W visit #4.
