15-Sep-2025 -- A hot mid-September day, 87°F at 3:12pm when I parked WNW of the confluence on the SE corner of 8000S and 7000W. This is a busy road. A man immediately stopped in his pickup to ask if I needed help. I walked a short way east along the road until I was due north of the confluence. I then gingerly picked my way the final 10 yards southward to the confluence through mature, somewhat sere soy. This field was unfenced and unmarked. I would say about 15 cars passed on the east-west road by the time I returned to my car 10 minutes later at 3:22pm, but none slowed down or seemed too interested in what I was doing.
Since the last visit in 2011, wind turbines have overtaken the horizon to the west and northeast. I am surprised it has been 14 years since the last visit, since this confluence is about as straightforward as they come.
From here, I weaved my way back north up to I-80 to continue my long journey home to Colorado from Michigan, with an overnight in Iowa.
