11-Nov-2025 -- Historical Note: The boundary between Victoria and South Australia was intended to be the 141st meridian. However, for "reasons" the survey markers are actually ~3km west of the correction line. This caused a degree of legal consternation when it become clear property boundaries were fixed in error.
Real Australian Bush - although I was only going to be walking ~1000m from my car - no one in the world knew I was here and, if I fell and broke a leg - there's no way I'd be found quickly (or at all) - so 2 phones (one satellite enabled) and a Personal Locator Beacon and a map and a compass and a whistle and a shelter and food and water.
The forest here is really strikingly beautiful - if a little challenging to walk through (rather spiky - so no shorts) and there are plenty of burrs (so puttees or gaiters). I'd recommend sturdy boots - especially in snake season.
The track that gets closest to the confluence is not open to unauthorised vehicles - and there is no way I'd want to be driving a hire car along it. So I parked up where a small track leaves the public access road (clearly visible on aerial photography) and followed this until it turned away from my intended route.
After your confluence visit I recommend driving a little further north and taking a look at the river gorge (and maybe a short walk).
