28-Jun-1998 -- Mama and I followed Alex's directions to the road closest to the confluence. With some help from the car's odometer, we found the spot on the road where the confluence was 1295 feet due east. However, it was in a field posted "No Trespassing" and surrounded by barbed wire. Fortunately, the next field south looked much more inviting (according to some signs, it was a test plot for some agricultural company). Also, it began approximately 200 feet south of the spot on the road our directions indicated.

Accordingly, Mama and I hiked into the test plot. I appreciated the Midwesterner's habit of laying out property lines according to compass directions - all we had to do was stay next to the barbed wire fence and we were sure to be going the right way. We counted our paces until we believed we'd gone 1295 feet, took pictures and returned to the car.

Coordinator's Note: The status of this confluence has been changed to attempted, after visitors at the second visit to this confluence determined the photos were from approximately 170 meters from the confluence

Take Exit 41 off of I-94 (there's a Taco Bell and a Wal-mart, what could be better), and go south on SR 25 for a short distance. Take a right onto US 12 West and go 3.0 miles. Take a right onto SR 79 north and drive 5.63 miles and stop. The confluence is 1295 feet due east (adjust for a magnetic compass). To verify your location, if you continue on SR 79, you will reach Spring Hill Road on your left in 0.2 miles (1032 feet).
