01-Apr-2000 -- While in Indianapolis, IN. to see the NCAA
Men's Final Four my friends and I decided to visit a point. My GPS
indicated there was one near us to the north. So at 2am, with my
girlfriend as our designated driver we took off in search of the point.
This was to be my first attempt at reaching a point without using a
detailed map (1:200,000) to get close. We headed northeast on the
interstate until we crossed the latitude line, we took the next exit and
headed west. We wound thru the woods and came to an intersection
that was just northwest of the point. We turned south and found a road
running east-west near the point. We drove east until we reached the
longitude line and found a place to pull the car off the road. We could
see the lights of buildings to the south but I'm not sure exactly what we
walked on since it was the middle of the night and dark. We found the
point just off the road to the south. It appeared to be the beginnings of
a new development site, but in the dark we could not really tell. It was
a fun time for the three of us but unfortunately upon returning home
and accessing the internet we discovered that this point had allready
been visited.
