27-Jun-2008 -- Back again! Only two months since my last visit and here we are again. Why? Well I have an appointment just 7 miles away so the old chestnut of "why not?". In fact though it's because I want to record the progress of how the site is changing with the new build going on.
I pull up and park in the small lane next to the CP field. While I am getting by boots on I notice some containers, a bit out of place as there are no ships near here.
Walk around to the gate and find that it now has a chain and padlock on! Hmmm, wonder what's changed. Climb over the gate and the grass is certainly a lot longer, aren't the sheep here anymore?
Walking towards the point reveals that there is animal "stuff" on the ground but it is most definitely not sheep pellets.
As I crest the very slight hill in the field I spot the new occupiers, a herd of calves in the far corner of the field. As I watch they start walking towards me. I know that generally cows aren't aggressive, but not always. So I stop and just stand still, then they walk to the other corner of the field.
I continue on, about 150 yards to go, the cows then run past me back to their original corner. Carry on. Get to the spot and take the required pictures. Out of the corner of my eye I spot the cows jogging en masse up the field towards the EXIT....
Visit over and I walk around the right hand (East) edge of the field so that I would be slightly above the herd. When I got a bit closer (and if you look very closely at the picture) I spotted that they are all young BULL calves....
Hop back over the gate and document the front of the building, and they say that there is no money in farming today!
