27-Dec-2000 -- Having nothing to do after Christmas, and needing the exercise to burn
off the turkey, we decided to try and bag a confluence!
Arriving in Buckingham at lunchtime, we found a path leading in the
general direction of the confluence beside an industrial estate. The
path led us to a small wood where we soon found our progress blocked by
a river! (Who didn't read the map right, then?). So, we went back onto
the road to see if there was a bridge in the industrial estate over the
river, but there was none. So, back to the car and the map contained
therein to figure out a plan B.
Plan B took us to the "dead centre of town" - the graveyard. On the
other side of the road, there was an animal feeds place which backed
up onto the field which evidently contained the confluence! Trooping
through a field of curious and non-anal-retentive sheep, we found
our quarry!
After the victory dance and associated photos, we made our way back to
the road in search of food, as it was now past lunch hour. Our way back
took us past a rather confused and bemused worker in the animal feeds
place! We offered him a "good afternoon" and made a beeline for the
safety of the car!
