25-Apr-2005 -- This combined business and confluence trip started 8 days ago with a visit to 46°N 123°W. Yesterday (sunday) I got to visit the three other confluences around Orlando, and tomorrow I am going home to Norway.
Today I spent the day working in our corporate offices in Tampa, then after finishing the job I drove back to Orlando where my flight leaves tomorrow morning. As planned I left Hwy 4 for a short sidetrip to Lakeland and the ninth confluence point in nine days.
This one is really easy, just leave Hwy 570 on exit 4, make two left turns under the highway to get back on, and there it is, to the right just after the second turn. There is a curb on both sides, but less than 50 m from the confluence there is a small concrete ramp with room to stop. I parked there, left the car and walked along the fence until I get as close as possible to the point: According to my GPS with WAAS differential data, the distance at this point was 26 m.
The temptation to get closer proved irresistible, and since the fence around the pond which contains the confluence has no signs posted on it, I jumped over and walked all the way to the edge of the pond, where my GPS track log indicated that I got within 15 m from the point. It is possible that the opposite side of the pond is even closer, but at this point my GPS batteries ran out, so I returned to the car and went on to Orlando and the airport.
