17-Dec-2006 -- On Sunday Decemberr 17th, 2006, I decided to pay 51N5E a visit; it's the second-closest DCP to my home in Maastricht in the Netherlands. Using my favorite means of transport --my motorbike-- I made my way to the parking spot indicated by previous visitors. That should have been easy enough, if it weren't for the fact that I used a basic GPS (i.e., without mapping capabilities) to get there. Like one of the previous visitors, I initially found myself on the wrong bank of the Demer canal. Fortunately, I was able to find a bridge over the Demer a little distance North West of the DCP, though it wasn't really meant for motorised traffic...
In any case, once the bike was parked, the remainder of the trip was easy enough: the farm road opposite the Bredeveldstraat leads directly to the meadow in which the DCP is. I was able to get a 7-meter GPS shot (3 meters distance plus 4 meters position error). Because it was already late in the afternoon, the "South" shot has a very bright sun near the right side of the image.
The trip home on the motorbike was rather chilly, but visiting the DCP was well worth the effort.
