18-Jun-2007 -- Cheryl and I were en route from our home in Virginia to a square dance festival in Milwaukee and taking a few extra days to do some sightseeing and GPSing. After a couple days in Detroit and a side trip to Canada (and the confluence at 43N 82W) we once again headed west toward Milwaukee. This visit to 42N 85W is my first confluence in Michigan.
The confluence at 42N 85W is in south central Michigan just north of Coldwater. It is roughly at the intersection of North Marshall Road and Bidwell Road. I parked across the street (Bidwell) north of the confluence where a number of farm implements were standing along with several rolls of hay (photo #2). A large dog voiced his objections to our presence as I got out and walked across the street to 799 N Marshall Rd. to do my GPS dance and obtain zeros on my GPSr (photo #5). That occurred without much difficulty near the tree stump in photo #1 looking south. By the time I had taken the requisite photos a man and another dog emerged from the white house (at the right edge of photo #1) to see what all the commotion was all about. We chatted for a short time about the DCP while I made friends with his dog. Photo #3 is the view west down Bidwell towards N. Marshall and photo #4 is the view to the east.
