01-Dec-2007 -- Another short stay in the L.A. area with a free day offered me the chance to do some more confluence hunting. After visiting 34N/116W, 34N/117W and 34N/118W last summer, I decided to go for 35N/119W and 35N/118W.

As usual I did my preparation with the help of Google Earth. For this CP it looked like taking Laval Road from the Interstate exit would be the easiest way there. Unfortunately these shots are sometimes a little outdated or don’t show some important details like deep ditches which make a road impassable. My preparation work fortunately always includes reading the reports of earlier visits. Thanks to visitor #4 (thank you Ross!) I found the right access road which joins Laval Road west of the ditch and leads to within 600 meters south of the CP. From here it was an easy hike up a grassy hill. It was a chilly day but the warming sun made it a very pleasant experience. I enjoyed the view and the peaceful moment before I went back to the car and on to my next destination 35N/118W.
