6th confluence visit out of a trip of 8

Continued from 48°N 11°E

After visiting 48N 11E I returned to the A96 motorway and drove west towards Memmingen. Dark clouds that had been filling the sky since the morning brought in the end a violent storm. It was still raining when I was leaving the motorway and crossing the border between the federal states of Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg. Via a little town of Rot an der Rot I arrived in the village of Spindelwag. Car’s navigation took me as close as 60 m from the confluence point. When I got out of the car I was welcomed by a penetrating odour – it turned out that I parked near a liquid manure silo.

It stopped raining but the downpour left the ground full of puddles. It also got much colder – only 9 ˚C. From the previous visitors’ narratives I knew that the point lay in the inner yard of a farm. To enter the farm I would have need to get a permission from the owners but nobody was around so I had to go to the house. But on the way to the house, between the garage and the barn, my GPS showed that I just reached the exact zero location. So I decided not bother the occupants and take them out to the cold and wet, but quickly took the required pictures and withdrew to the car.

The farm lay slightly above the village. There were little hills around but not much more could be seen because of low hanging gray clouds. On the way back to the motorway I stopped in Rot an der Rot. I visited a nice monastery church that was prepared for a weeding ceremony that was just about to commence and I saw unusual paintings on the town gate and on former monastery buildings. When I reached the motorway the sun came out.

04 kwietnia 2009 -- Z przecięcia 48N 11E wróciłem na autostradę A96 i pojechałem dalej na zachód w kierunku Memmingen. Ciemne chmury, które od rana gromadziły się na niebie przyniosły w końcu gwałtowną burzę. Gdy zjeżdżałem z autostrady i przekraczałem granicę pomiędzy Bawarią i Badenią-Wirtembergią nadal padało. Przez niewielkie miasteczko Rot an der Rot dotarłem do wsi Spindelwag. Nawigacja samochodowa doprowadziła mnie na odległość zaledwie 60 m od punktu przecięcia. Gdy wysiadłem z samochodu powitał mnie przenikliwy odór – okazało się, że zaparkowałem w pobliżu zbiornika z gnojowicą.

Deszcz wreszcie ustał, ale pozostały po nim ogromne kałuże. Zrobiło się też znacznie chłodniej – zaledwie 9 ˚C. Z relacji poprzednich odwiedzających wiedziałem, że punkt przecięcia znajduje się pomiędzy zabudowaniami gospodarstwa rolnego. Aby wejść na jego teren powinienem uzyskać pozwolenie właścicieli, ale ponieważ nikogo nie było w pobliżu, musiałem tak czy tak wejść na jego teren by dojść do budynku mieszkalnego. Jednakże po drodze, gdzieś pomiędzy garażem i oborą, mój GPS pokazał, że właśnie dotarłem do punktu „zero”. W tej sytuacji nie niepokoiłem już właścicieli i nie wyciągałem ich na deszcz i chłód, ale szybko wykonałem niezbędne fotografie i wróciłem do samochodu.

Gospodarstwo leżało nieco powyżej wioski. Otoczone było niewielkimi wzgórzami, ale niewiele więcej było widać z uwagi na nisko wiszące szare chmury. W drodze powrotnej do autostrady zatrzymałem się w Rot an der Rot. Zwiedziłem ładny kościół klasztorny, który właśnie był przygotowywany do ceremonii ślubnej i obejrzałem oryginalne malowidła na fasadach bramy miejskiej i zabudowań gospodarczych klasztoru. Gdy dojechałem do autostrady wyjrzało słońce.
