06-Jul-2009 -- This is the 71st of a series of 83 confluence visits during our voyage from Nigeria to Europe and back to Nigeria around the entire African continent. It all started on 28 January 2008 at 11N 5E.
Story continues from 32S 19E.
In the morning we had visited the confluence 26S 17E. We wanted to spend the night at Sesriem and to travel from Helmeringhausen on the C27 to get there. This road leads through the NamibRand Nature Reserve and bypasses the Confluence by 5.5 kilometres.
There are not many roads in this area but we were lucky by following the path leading to the Wolwedans private luxury game lodge which is some 20 km away from the main road. This path leads as close as 1.3 km to the Confluence. The remaining distance we drove cross country.
