Aprovechando un viaje de negocios a Buenos Aires Argentina, me puse previamente en contacto con Sergio Zerega el mayor cazador de confluencias en la Argentina, asícomo con su amigo Gustavo Montero para organizar una salida de cacería de confluencias cercanas a Buenos Aires. Igualmente escribí en el foro de usuarios de GPS y desarrollo de mapas para la Argentina Mapear para además de identificar quien pudiera estar interesado en esta actividad, proyectar la misma dentro de la comunidad de usuarios de GPS y sistemas cartográficos.

Sergio me informó que al menos una confluencia nos acompañaría ya que esta preparando un viaje al sur para cazar 12 confluencias. Roberto Martínez de foro Mapear se animó acompañarnos, sin embargo el día previo cuando lo llamo desde mi hotel me indicó que problemas de salud de su esposa le impedían participar en esta cacería pero que posteriormente organizará algunas excusiones dentro del foro para disfrutar de esta actividad.

Gustavo me confirma que me pasará buscando por mi hotel y en efecto a las 7:20 am partimos desde mi hotel Gustavo, su esposa Rosalía y mi persona rumbo a la confluencia N35 W58. Una vez en la autopista La Plata dirección hacia el sureste, Gustavo contacta por radio a Sergio para encontrarnos con él en la estación de servicio ubicada en S34 41.096 W58 18.317. Acá cambio de vehículo y voy con Sergio en su Honda Fit mientras que Gustavo y Rosalía van en su Vitara. Continuamos por la autopista La Plata hacia el sureste y luego giramos hacia la autopista RN 2 hacia el suroeste. Posteriormente tomamos la RP 36 dirección sureste hasta la avenida 66 hacia el noreste y al llegar a la calle de tierra #179 en S34 59.628 W58 00.550 giramos a la derecha. Después de unos 900 mts encontramos a la izquierda el terreno donde se encuentra la confluencia.

El terreno se encuentra cercado y el portón cerrado con un candado, sin embargo ya que no vimos a nadie para pedir permiso, procedimos a entrar fácilmente al terreno por un hueco en la cerca. Luego de caminar un poco mas de 200 ya estábamos haciendo la famosa danza de la confluencia logrando los ceros a las 10:19 am. Tomamos las fotos de rigor asícomo la del grupo, todos contentos por la primera confluencia del día. El terreno ha venido siendo utilizado como extracción de grava para material de construcción

Cuando vamos saliendo del terreno nos encontramos con una persona vestida con un traje ataviado de ciclista montando bicicleta deportiva y me dice “No lo puedo creer tu eres Alfredo Remón no me reconoces?”. Inmediatamente lo veo a la cara y me digo a mi mismo que quien podría ser esta persona si yo no conozco a nadie acá. Ya cerca le miro la cara directamente y le digo que me perdonara pero no lograba reconocerlo y me dice que me esta jugando una broma, que su nombre es Carlos Pérez del Foro Mapear y que como vivía cerca de la confluencia había decidido visitar la confluencia y encontrarnos acá. Nos tomamos una foto con Carlos y le explicamos como llegar a la confluencia e indicamos que teníamos que seguir nuestro camino para poder completar la meta del día.

Después del saludo de despedida, Carlos entró al terreno donde se encuentra la confluencia y nosotros partimos hacia la próxima confluencia, haciendo una parada en una antigua estación ferrocarrilera llamada Buchanan del sistema de ferrocarril ingles ya abandonado. Para llegar a esta estación volvimos a la RN 2 hacia el sur y en S34 56.534 W58 10.129 giramos a la derecha hasta S34 58.895 W58 12.751 donde volvimos girar a la derecha y luego de 1.4 Km estábamos llegando a la estación. En el sitio estaban preparando un cordero asado, a lo que nos invitaron que nos quedáramos a comer, pero debido a nuestro plan de cacerías del día tuvimos que negarnos a tan apetitosa invitación.

Acá Sergio se despide de nosotros ya que necesita atender asuntos relativos a los preparativos de su expedición para cazar 12 confluencias la próxima semana. Luego de la despedida, nosotros continuamos según el plan rumbo a la próxima confluencia S35 W59.

Taking advantage of a business trip to Buenos Aires Argentina, I previously contacted Sergio Zerega the greatest confluence hunter in Argentina and his friend Gustavo Montero to organize a confluence hunting near Buenos Aires. I also wrote in the Argentinean GPS and development of maps internet forum Mapear to also identify who might be interested in this activity and project it in this community.

Sergio informed me that at least a confluence would accompany us since this preparing a trip to south Argentina to hunt 12 confluences. Roberto Martinez from the forum were encouraged to join us, however the previous day when I called him from my hotel, he told me that some health problems of his wife stop him to participate in this hunting but he will organized some quest in the future to hunt some confluence with members of the forum.

Gustavo confirms me that I will be looking for me at my hotel and indeed at 7: 20 am from my hotel Gustavo, his wife Rosalía and myself started our hunting day having as first objective the confluence N35 W58. Once in the La Plata motorway direction to the southeast, Gustavo contact by radio to Sergio to meet him at the service station located in S34 41.096 W58 18.317. Here I change of vehicle and I go with Sergio in his Honda Fit while Gustavo and Rosalía go in their Vitara. We continue along La Plata motorway to the southeast and then turn towards the RN 2 motorway to the southwest. Then take the RP 36 southeast direction until avenue 66 northeast and reach the dirty road 179 at S34 59.628 W58 00.550 where we turned right. After approximately 900 m we found the lot where the confluence is located.

The lot is fencing and the gate padlocked, however since we did not sew anyone to ask permission, we proceeded to enter easily to the lot by a hole in the fence. After walking a little more than 200 mts, we were already doing the famous Confluence Dance, achieving at 10:19 am zeros on the GPS. We took the required pictures as well as some of the group and all we were excited about the first confluence of the day. The lot has been being used as gravel extraction for construction material

When we are coming out from the lot we saw a guy dressed with a cyclist suit riding sports bike and tells me "I do not believe it, you are Alfredo Remón, do you not acknowledge me?". Immediately see him in his face and I say to myself who might be this person if I do not know anybody here. I already close watch his face directly tell him to forgive me but couldn't recognize him and he said that his this playing a joke, his name is Carlos Pérez from the forum Mapear and as lived near the confluence had decided to visit the confluence and meet us here. We take a photo with Carlos and explain how to get to the confluence and we say that we must continue our journey to accomplish the goal of the day.

After a farewell handshake, Carlos went to the spot where is the confluence and we started towards the next confluence, making a stop in an old railroad station named Buchanan, of the abandoned English railroad system. To reach this station we returned to RN 2 south and at S34 56.534 W58 10.129 turn right up to S34 58.895 W58 12.751 where we again turn right and then 1.4 km ahead we were arriving to the station. On the site some guys were preparing a roast lamb and they invited us to eat, but due to our day hunts plan we had to refuse to so appetizing invitation.

Here Sergio said goodbye to us since he needs to take care of some issues relating to preparations for quest to hunt 12 confluences next week. After the farewell, we continue according to plan toward the next confluence S35 W59.
