02-Nov-2014 -- This is the second out of 2 reports reaching confluence points in Austria and in the Czech Republic. The story continues from 49°N 15°E.
I started cycling from the town Slavonice (50 km beeline distance) in the early morning at 6 AM. It was supposed to become a nice and sunny day. But in fact, the fog never dissolved and the sun kept reserved for those living above the clouds. While I was cycling my glasses were constantly streaming up such that I would have needed wipers in order to see well.
I reached the little historic town Jevišovice (in German Jaispitz, 1.5 km distance) at 10 AM and a little while later I reached the
Penzion Němčický Dvůr (150 m distance). I cycled around the farm guesthouse, passed a pond (50 m distance) and found the confluence point on a small forested strip of land between a little stream and a little meadow. The meadow was already mown and the nettles already cut such that it was no problem to dance around until all zeros were aligned in the GPS display.
After the documentation of the Confluence was finished, I considered cycling to 49°N 17°E, but due to the remaining daylight time of only 6 hours (which is quite tight to cover 75 km beeline distance by bicycle) and the cold wetness, I skipped that plan and cycled to Znojmo instead for a well-deserved lunch and reached Vienna in the evening right in time to see a theatre play and catch my overnight train back to Zurich at 10:40 PM.
