08-Jun-2001 -- On this Friday the Upper Austrian Confluence hunters decided to visit the eastern (Moravia) confluences in the Czech Republic. We headed northeast for ~230 km, crossed the border to Moravia (JIZNI MORAVA) with ease and then passed the town of
Jevisovice.
On the road to the spot we saw large fields, which were cultivated by means of huge agricultural machines from the next Kolchose (kolkhose – collective farm). The confluence itself is close to an old farmhouse (pic#2) that is currently converted in a holiday resort (pic#3). The surrounding fields cultivated by the nearby kolkhose probably since the communist land reform.
We bypassed the farmhouse, crossed a creek (dirt road) and stopped close to an old cellar, which was camouflaged by elderberry (sambucus canadensis) bushes (pic#4). We crossed a meadow, two small creeks and finally found the confluence just at the edge of the second creek (pic#5).
Then we continued to
49°N 17°E and passed many fields with beautiful poppy flowers.
